Unprecedented Number of Missions in Any
One Month
Twelve individual groups will be visiting Israel from
the various Canadian communities in October 2004. The visits are being
organized by UIA Federations Canada ("UIAFC"), and will include
more than 330 participants. This is an unprecedented number of
missions in any one month. Another unique aspect is that in addition to the
larger cities, Toronto and Montreal, nearly all the outlying Jewish
communities from Canada are represented. Groups
include provincial politicians, opinion-makers and prominent business
people, with a high representation of non-Jewish participants; individual
community, leadership, and campaign missions; a solidarity volunteer group;
and philanthropic visits. Participants return to Canada as strengthened
advocates for Israel, with a heightened awareness of the needs and reality
in the country.
