Report about Trip to Winnipeg

I made a work trip to Winnipeg on 7-9 December.  During this time I met with various heads of the Manitoba government – Ministers of Commerce, Energy, Science and Technology, Leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party as well as the Mayor of Winnipeg. We discerned many areas of potential cooperation with Israeli companies in the fields of aviation, space, automotive parts, communications, defense and security.

The Work Schedule of the Trade Mission for 2005 includes the following subjects:

·        promoting investments in Israel

·        promoting industrial purchasing and cooperation

·        promoting new agricultural products

·        promoting consumer goods, food and wine

·        governmental purchasing

·        reciprocal purchasing

·        industrial R&D

In 2005 we will organize a visit to Israel of the police chiefs of Ontario province in order to familiarize them with Israel’s operational and technological abilities in security areas.  In addition we will organize a cooperative event in Canada having to do with security products and services with the participation of about 15 Israeli companies.

Another project we will be dealing with is the Winter Olympics of 2010.  We will be promoting the participation of Israeli companies in various areas such as security and communications.

The trade mission will continue to pursue the creation of a cooperative R&D fund between Ontario and Israel.  The inauguration of the Fund is scheduled for the second half of 2005.

The trade mission will pursue the creation of a cooperative R&D fund with Quebec Province, in cooperation with our Consul in Montreal and the President of Canadian Israeli R&D Fund.
