Meetings between Israel jewelry firms with Canadian jewelry buyers

The Chamber of Commerce is organizing meetings between Israeli jewelry firms and Canadian jewelry buyers. The meetings will take place in Toronto and Montréal at the end of October in the beginning of November

 

Organizing a mission of Canadian business people to visit Israel

The chamber of commerce is helping to organize a mission of Canadian business people to participate in the 2005 Prime Minister’s conference for export and international cooperation

Seminar in Toronto on the subject of investments in Israel

On June 29 a seminar was held in Toronto on the subject of investments in Israel. Approximately 60 participants were present.  The participants included businesspeople, entrepreneurs, financial people, bankers, investment companies, lawyers etc.

 

Conference of Israeli businessmen in Toronto

On September 22 we are holding a conference in Toronto for Israelis who lived in Canada and connected to business, industry, investments, trade, research and development and technology with the aim of encouraging increase Israeli exports to Canada. The aim is to encourage common projects and Canadian investments in Israel.  Israeli businessmen in Canada interested in participating are inflated to contact the office is of Israel’s Economic Mission in Toronto.  The telephone is 416 – 640 -- 8540

Israeli Cinema month in Canada’s Capital 5-26th of June

The Film ‘Turn Left at the End of the World’ opened the Israeli cinema month in Ottawa June 5th, with a crowd of over 300 people at the National Library of Canada. The film was accepted with enthusiasm and drew applause from the audience well after the screening. Diplomats, members of Parliament and other dignitaries were also in attendance. The movie is one of six Israeli films that will be screened from the 5th to the 26th of June. 

The Festival was also covered in the local media.

 

 

Ambassador visit to Nova Scotia May 26th – May 30th

Ambassador Alan Baker visited Nova Scotia and met with the mayor of Halifax toured Pier 21 and spoke before the Jewish community of Nova Scotia.

 

Ambassador Baker speaks before a Gala dinner for the Theatre group Gesher

Toronto, May 31st Ambassador Baker welcomed acclaimed Israeli theatre group Gesher in their Gala dinner in Toronto. The group performed in Toronto before a sellout crowd.

 

4. Ambassador greets war veterans in Ottawa June 1st

Ambassador Baker thanked a group of Jewish World War II veterans in an event at Agudath Israel synagogue in Ottawa.

 

Presentation on Israeli economic activity in Canada and business opportunities June 5th – 8th .  Ambassador Baker attended the Israel Heads of Missions conference in Los Angeles. In the conference Ambassador Baker gave a PowerPoint presentation and attended a Q&A session on Israeli economic activity in Canada, the Canadian economy and business opportunities for Israeli companies. Ambassador Baker also outlined the Embassy of Israel economic activities.

$ 1 million of exports to Canada by Barkan Frames

The Barkan Company which manufactures frames for television screens and electronic consumer goods signed an agreement with Soros the Canadian electronics store chain (previously Radio Shack).  The chain numbers 500 stores.

 

P. N.M.  Information Systems which specializes in the development of programs for process and information management received a business process management project from the Canadian SwiftTrade company.  The project is worth a half a million shekels (Daily Maily August 2)

 

Bank HaMizrahi. purchased a risk management system from the Canadian company Algorithmics

The new system contains an integrated platform that combines market risks, assets and obligations, as well as the liquidity risks of the Bank, by utilizing the most advanced tools available. (Globes July 26)

 

Interview with Advocat Yehuda Raveh, President of the Israel Canadian Chamber of Commerce – given to the Jerusalem Post

In the interview he stated that Israeli investments in Canada continue to flourish.  Israeli investments doing the last four years have exceeded for billion dollars. Canadian investments in Israel also continue apace and recently the Canadian Phosphate Company invested $ 330 million in the Israel Chemical Company.  In addition there is growing cooperation between the aircraft industries of both countries.  For the full interview press here. Canadian risk capital funds are expected to invest $ 100 million in Israeli risk capital funds. This is the appraisal of a Ephraim Shoham the economic attaché of Israel in Canada (Globes July 13)

 

James Cameron the Hollywood producer of the Titanic intends to cooperate with the Canadian branch of the Israeli company Gravity. Cameron is one of the pioneers of three-dimensional special effects, the area of expertise of gravity (Globes July 12)

 

Tel Aviv University and Manitoba University have come out with the cooperative program to prepare students for international business entrepreneurship. Supporting the program is the Canadian Jewish millionaire Jerry Schwartzs who contributed $ 500,000 to the project (Globes July 12)

 

Air Canada celebrates a decade of operations in Israel. The company’s director in Israel Ms. Ruth Ben-Zur notes that the profitability of the Tel Aviv-Toronto line has improved over the past year. Similarly she notes that many Israelis flew to Canada this year for two to three weeks vacations in the Canadian Rockies (the marker July 8)

 

Air Canada is increasing the efficiency of its passenger transfer process for passengers who are continuing on to the United States.

Air Canada passengers who are making connecting flights from Toronto using Air Canada, JAZZ, United Airlines or Air Alliance will be taken in a special bus to terminal two where they will be checked by Canadian immigration and customs officials will receive their baggage and will pass through American customs and immigration checks.

 

Real Estate

 

 Industrial building company controlled by Eliezer Fishman is conducting negotiations to sell a commercial center for a 68 million shekels profit before tax.  The property is located in CITYPLACE commercial center in Winnipeg (Globes July 21)

 

Delek International will rent six floors of office space in Montréal to the American insurance giant AON for 3 million Canadian dollars per year.  Delek concluded 2004 with a clear profit of 124 million shekels.  The company is managed by Ilik Rozinski  (Globes July 20)

 

Africa Israel will sell a 10 floor residential apartment building (232 units) in Toronto for a profit of 18 million shekels.  (Globes July 1)

 

The Amot Investment Company purchased two logistics centers in Montréal.  Both centers are rented for 20 years (Globes, June 28)
